5 of Motor Trend’s Top 10 Quickest 0-60 MPH Cars for 2012 Belong to the Germans

Motor Trend posted their Top 10 Quickest 0-60 MPH cars for 2012 and the Germans take 5 spots with the 2012 Porsche 911 Turbo S taking the top spot.

Here are the cars and what Motor Trend had to say about each:

10. 2013 BMW M5 – 0-60 in 3.7 seconds

“The latest generation of M5 manages to address the daily driving issues ignored by the e60, while simultaneously blowing it out of the water in performance. Enthusiasts may wax poetic about spinning the V-10’s tachometer needle past 8000 rpm, but the rush of torque – 500 lb-ft, to be exact – created by the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 launches the big car like a cannonball.”

9. 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster – 0-60 in 3.6 seconds

“The noises are monstrous, angry, thirsty, loud, yet they’re stimulating and addicting. Its sound is reminiscent of GM’s famed LS9, except Affalterbach’s mill has a large dose of unfiltered DTM racer bred into it.”

8. 2013 Audi S8 – 0-60 in 3.5 seconds

“How fast is your new whatever? Doesn’t matter – this full-size, four-door Audi is faster. That’s right, kids, unless you’re driving one of the absolute quickest cars on the market, the 2013 Audi S8 luxury sedan will probably show you its taillights.

2. 2012 Lamborghini Aventador – 0-60 in 2.8 seconds

“Even its launch control system boasts the wonderfully grandiose title of ‘Thrust Mode,’ and using it is trivially simple. On the center console, select Corsa from the three-mode Drive Select system and flip off stability control. When ‘Thrust Mode available’ appears on the tach, plant the brake pedal with your left foot and slap the throttle down with your right.

1. 2012 Porsche 911 Turbo S – 0-60 in 2.7 seconds

“I don’t know if I agree with ‘scary as hell,’ but go on and lift mid-corner and all doubt will be erased from your mind as to exactly what sort of car you’re driving. That said, a kick of the throttle reels you back in via the grippy goodness of AWD.
